How Can You Help?
Funds raised help to pay for many important programs that benefit all of our children.  We need everyone's help.

Help us get those great donations. The time is now to hit the ground running and start soliciting donations.  Print the donation form and accompanying letter now!  Take them with you to restaurants, museums, theaters, stores, fitness clubs, and companies that you frequent, and ask them to donate goods or services.

Donations that have been successful in the past include:

--Gift certificates: restaurants, health club memberships, salons
--Professional services: tutoring, lessons, treatments, financial services, catered dinner
--Tickets: movies, plays, sporting events, concerts, opera, dance, television tapings
--Travel: hotel stays, resorts, transportation, weekend away or at your summer home
--Celebrity items:  a meal or meeting, sports, memorabilia. Have your famous friend donate a custom voicemail      greeting!

Offer your skills or hobbies as a donation:

--Hobbies: Offer baked goods, a catered meal, or tango lessons;
--Special Skills: Help a child edit a college essay or improve public speaking skills.
--Make a donation based on your profession:
--Lawyer: Write a will.
--Therapist: Offer a session.
--Photographer: Donate a photo shoot.
--Make-up artist: Do a makeover.
--Any Profession: Mentor a kid for a day.
--Give a tour of your workplace. Take a kid to lunch to discuss opportunities in your field.

Volunteer. Help wanted!  Good computer skills? Help with computer data entry.  Have a car? Try transporting donated items.  Got ideas for entertainment? Step up!  We need help starting now and continuing all through the auction.  On the day of the event, we'll need help with setup, check-in, check-out, monitoring item tables, and much more.

Bid generously! Visit the on-line auction that will begin January 29. Attend the live event and continue to bid. You'll find bargains, and unusual items or services not available elsewhere. More to the point, every dollar you spend goes to the PA to help make Bronx Science even better.

Frequently Asked Questions

Every year, the Bronx Science PA arranges an auction, which serves as both a fundraiser and a social event.  Many of you have participated in auctions in your child’s elementary or middle schools, but many have not.  So we put together this list of Frequently Asked Questions.

When and where is it?
This year's auction is a celebration of The Lunar New Year and is scheduled for Friday, February 5, 2010 at The Golden Unicorn in Manhattan's Chinatown.

How does it work?
In the months prior to the event, the entire Bronx Science community is asked to get donations for the auction.  Donations may be auctioned both online prior to the live event, as well as at the event itself.  At the event, items may be auctioned via:

What kinds of donations are there?
Donations are as varied as the Bronx Science community:  trips, theater tickets, tickets to sporting events, restaurant gift certificates, retail items, professional services, and much more.  There are luxury items as well as fabulous bargains.  The more donations we bring in, the more money we can raise for our school.

What is the event like?
This is a great opportunity to meet other parents as well as help our school.  In addition to the bidding and mingling, there’s food, music, and entertainment.

Who’s invited?
Everyone is invited to participate in the online bidding, but the live event is generally an adults-only evening.
